Thirty-eight students from schools across Central Minnesota competed in the Central Minnesota Regional Spelling Bee for the chance to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Hosted by Resource Training & Solutions, the regional bee took place at the Ritsche Auditorium within Stewart Hall on the campus of St. Cloud State University on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Thanks to a partnership with the nine Minnesota Service Cooperatives, the top speller from each regional bee advances directly to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
After 11 challenging rounds and 165 words, Emmaline Bushman, an 8th grader from St. John’s Prep, emerged as the champion with the winning word honorarium. Thisbe Truax, a 6th grader from St. Cloud Area Schools, secured second place, while Ingrid Johnson, a 7th grader from Sartell-St. Stephen, finished third. Emmaline will now represent Central Minnesota at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland this spring.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all 38 participants for their hard work, dedication, and success throughout this year’s competition.
