Senior High Knowledge Bowl Teams Compete for a Chance to Advance to the Regional Tournament

From Tuesday, February 27th to Thursday, February 29th, the Sub-Regional Knowledge Bowl Competition for Central Minnesota, Region 7 teams, unfolded at the Atwood Memorial Center on the campus of St. Cloud State University (SCSU). Schools competed within the three competitive divisions (A, AA, and AAA), categorized by the size of their school district.

The sub-regional meet comprised one written round and five oral rounds covering all content areas of learning typical in secondary educational programs. Questions test students' recall, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The top 6 teams from each division of the sub-regional meet will now progress to the Regional Knowledge Bowl Tournament, hosted by Resource Training & Solutions on Tuesday, March 12th at SCSU.

This season in addition to awarding medals for the Top 6 Teams, in each tier, the Regional Coaches voted for two new honors, Coach of the Year and Team Spirit.  Coach of the Year is a coach who has knowledge of the program and rules, lends a helping hand, and is encouraging with teams. The Traveling Team Spirit Plaque is awarded to a team that has shown great character and sportsmanship throughout the season.
