Four Area Spellers Head to the Multi-Regional State Spelling Bee on February 22, at the Lakes Country Service Cooperative in Fergus Falls, Minn.
Resource Training & Solutions hosted the Central Minnesota Regional Spelling Bee in Sartell, Minnesota, on Tuesday, February 8. Morning and afternoon spelling bees comprised that competition for students in grades 5-8 from school districts across the Resource Training & Solutions' Service Cooperative Region 7.
The morning spelling bee had 21 spellers from 10 school districts, the afternoon spelling bee had 19 spellers from 11 school districts. After 179 words and 23 rounds, four spellers representing central Minnesota schools will compete at the Multi-Regional State Spelling Bee at the Lakes Country Service Cooperative in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, on Tuesday, February 22. The winner of that competition advances to Scripp's National Spelling Bee during the week of Memorial Day 2022, in Washington, D.C., with live coverage on ION.
Liam Mick, 8th grader from Sauk Rapids-Rice middle school took first place in the morning spelling bee. The second place morning competitor was Van Battle, 6th grader from Catholic Community Schools.
Levi Gould, 7th grader from HEY - Home Educated Youth took first place in the afternoon spelling bee. The second place afternoon competitor was Ruth Couture, 8th grader from Foley School District.
