Resource Training & Solutions hosted its 19th annual Young Authors Young Artists (YAYA) Conference at the College of Saint Benedict from May 16th to 17th. The college campus welcomed students from across central Minnesota for this exciting two-day event.
Students had the opportunity to use their imagination and creativity through a variety of engaging, hands-on sessions. Designed for third through eighth graders, the conference offered a diverse range of topics. Participants selected four sessions from options including writing, illustration, music, performing arts, public speaking, and more.
Some of the noteworthy sessions included:
- Do Rad Things - Skateboard Art: Students crafted their own skateboard art, using Sharpies to transform real skateboards into personalized masterpieces.
- Create your own Art Deco Ceramic Tile: Students learned about color theory and Art Deco design and then created their own original designs on ceramic tiles.
- Amazing AD-ventures: Students created their own “mini ad agencies" to brainstorm copy, graphics, and sound effects for various products.
- Lead the Beat! Leadership and Drum Circles: In this fun educational session, students learned about leadership through a drum circle, experimenting with rhythms, taking turns leading, and exploring their creativity.
Throughout the event, the college campus buzzed with excitement as students and volunteers participated in these dynamic sessions. Encouraged to document their journey, students and volunteers captured photos of their artwork and shared them to the YAYA Virtual Gallery. This allowed everyone to showcase their creativity and celebrate their achievements.
