RTS Awarded Grant to Support Teacher Mentoring Programs

We are thrilled to announce that Resource Training & Solutions has been selected as one of the 10 regional entities to receive funding through the Statewide Teacher Mentoring Program, awarded by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). This significant grant is part of an 8 million dollar initiative aimed at bolstering regional induction and mentoring approaches for new teachers, focusing on special education teachers and educators in other high-need areas, including educators of color and Indigenous leaders.

Our Commitment to Supporting Educators

As one of the nine Minnesota service cooperatives, Resource Training & Solutions is dedicated to enhancing the professional journey of educators within our region. The grant will enable us to provide comprehensive support to new teachers, ensuring they receive the guidance and resources necessary to thrive in their roles. Our focus will be on fostering positive mentorship experiences, which are crucial for teacher retention and professional growth.

Planned Initiatives

With the support of this grant, we will implement a range of initiatives designed to support new teachers and mentors:

  • Seminars, Workshops, and Forums: Professional development opportunities for mentors and new teachers to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices.
  • Mentor and Leader Training: Training programs for mentors and educational leaders to equip them with the skills and strategies needed to effectively support new teachers.
  • On-the-Ground Coaching: On-site coaching for mentors, offering personalized support and feedback to help them navigate their mentoring experience.
  • Induction Program Development: We will guide schools and districts in developing robust induction programs, including vision, mission, and program goals tailored to their unique needs.
  • Regional Networking and Communities of Practice: We will create opportunities for new teachers and mentors to connect with their peers through regional networking events and communities of practice, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
  • Implementation Stipends: We will award stipends to  Districts that meet participation requirements so that they can continue the implementation of their induction and mentoring program into future years.

A Step Forward for Education in Minnesota

Commissioner Willie Jett also highlighted the significance of this initiative, saying,

“We look forward to the work these organizations will do to prepare teachers to have successful and meaningful careers and impact the lives of their students from day one.”

Michelle Wang, Education Director at Resource Training & Solutions, shares her enthusiasm and commitment to supporting new educators, stating,

“At Resource Training & Solutions, we share this vision and are committed to making a substantial impact on the professional lives of new teachers, especially those with Tier 1 and Tier 2 licenses who are obtaining a Tier 3 license. By providing them with the support and resources they need, we aim to create a more sustainable and rewarding teaching experience, ultimately benefiting students and communities across our region.”
