The Deepest Well Book Study
Gain insight into Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact on childhood growth and development, physical health and long-term well-being, by diving into The Deepest Well by Nadine Burke Harris. Connect with school nurses, health assistants, counselors and educators to discuss and gain perspective on ways to support our students throughout their lives. All meetings will occur via Zoom. Bringing Words to Life: Robust Vocabulary Instruction Book Study
Students in 3rd grade and higher need to be learning 2,000 - 3,000 new words a year. Vocabulary is a key component to reading comprehension and important to student success across all content areas. Join us in June as we read Bringing Words to Life by Isabel L. Beck, Margaret G. McKeown and Linda Kucan. This book is grounded in research, the book explains how to select words for instruction, introduce their meanings, and create engaging learning activities that promote both word knowledge and reading comprehension. All meetings will occur via Zoom. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own book.

The Make or Break Year Book Study
For at-risk students, the freshmen-year transition will set the stage for a path to graduation or dropping out. This book study will follow how schools in Chicago began to use research to reorganize their educational system to support all ninth grade students on their path to graduation. Preserving Professional Credentials: A License Saver Session for Educators
Are you needing to complete your requirements prior to renewing your license? Join our Resource Training and Solutions Education staff to meet all requirements within one day! Registration cost includes lunch. Hour-long sessions include: Reading preparation, multilingal learners, accommodations and modifications, mental health and suicide prevention, cultural competency, and PBIS. Registration is for the full day; partial day registrations are not available.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18. You’ll build skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to young people who are struggling. You’ll also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support.
After The Course, You Will Be Able To:
- Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)
- Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
- Understand how to interact with a young person in crisis.
- Know how to connect a young person with help.
- Better understand trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying.
